    I bought a very used set of extension rings, and a very used Nikkor
    85mm f/2.8 PC lens, and a "beater" 35mm PC lens from a local camera
    store at a fair cost, I retrieve, $ 550.00. I bought information technology to utilise with my
    F3, But I'm told that I must use "Terminate Down" metering. I chosen and
    spoke to a tech at Nikon, who was less than helpful. In fact he
    didn't even know you could utilise the extension tubes with the 85mm.
    Sooooo, I thought why not ask you.

    Well, forgive my dumbness, beingness relatively new to this, merely what
    is "end down metering"? Nosotros never coverd this in college, or I
    might have had a hangover when we did ;)

  2. terminate downwards metering just ways that you have to meter at the aperture you are shooting at. unlike almost AI lenses, where you lot set the aperture to where you want and it stays at total discontinuity until correct before you take the picture.

    that has a piddling on how to perform stop down metering. if yous have the photographic camera manual, that would too be another place to cheque. im non familiar with the lenses or with stop down metering, other than the definition.

  3. Motorcar Indexing(AI) tells the camera the F stop.Stopped downwards metering shows the camera.

  5. With the 35mm PC lens y'all don't accept to exercise a matter. When yous turn the aperture ring to the desired f/cease the meter will automatically account for the reduced lite transmission. As well, the viewfinder will darken.

    With non-AI, machine-diaphragm lenses on the F3 you'll demand to depress the silver button on the forepart right of the trunk - this closes down the aperture and allows accurate metering.

    Terminate-down metering is unnecessary with any lens when used at total aperture - the meter just reads the full aperture setting.

    BTW, with not-AI, motorcar-diaphragm lenses you'll need to flip the meter indexing tab on the F3 out of the way to prevent damage. It's a little silver tab at effectually the 1 o'clock position, facing the camera mount. Press the tiny push button to the right of the tab to release the hinged tab.

  6. Near Nikkor lenses are Auto-Aperture lenses. That is they stop downwards just an instant earlier the photo is taken automatically. Some lenses are Preset.     Those are some difficult lens to utilize, especially with a F3. U"nless you do a lot of macro piece of work, are you certain you actually desire to tackle them?
